 Open Studios 2013

Last weekend was the annual Open Studios Art Tour here in Santa Cruz. This tour brings over a million dollars into the community every year! People come out in droves to support the painters, sculptors and makers of the community. Every town should have such an event.

This was the first time I had an actual studio! Usually I show out of my house. Being in a public setting in a building where other artists were also showing made a big difference in the amount of visitors. It was a joy to see people's eye's light up when they walked into my world of COLOR! I intentionally wanted my studio to be a place of energy and vitality and I think everyone felt it!

My friend Barbara Fasulo stopped by with her camera and graciously took these beautiful photos to document the day. Many thanks Barbara!
I hope you enjoy being a part of the tour via the photographs below:

It is the work of the artist to draw all out from his or her heart.

The following paintings are from a journal I kept during the months of August and September 2008. The summer of anger, apparently.  THIS is what I love about painting intuitively and without preconceived ideas of what something should look like. What's really going on inside will always be revealed. It's journaling with pictures.
